The essentials

Details you send in a quote request are used for one thing: arranging a roofline quote. Your details may be passed to a local roofline installer so they can quote for the job. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for marketing, and everything is cleared out a year after we last speak.

Who looks after your data

Grantham Roofline (granthamroofline.co.uk) is owned by Neil Evans (sole trader), the data controller. Ask about anything here by emailing hello@granthamroofline.co.uk or calling 07930 966630.

What gets recorded

  • Name and at least one way to reach you (phone, email or both)
  • The postcode of the property
  • The work you’d like quoted, the house type, which sides, your timing and any notes
  • Calls: your number, when you rang and any message left
  • The page you used and when the request came in

Health details and other sensitive information aren’t needed, so please don’t include them.

Why, and on what basis

We use your details to reply, agree a visit and get you a written quote, which is done by a local roofline installer. A short record of requests is kept so the site can be run properly. The lawful basis is legitimate interests, since a quote request can’t be answered without these steps. Only the contact details and a description of the work are shared.

Who else receives it

  • One local roofline installer at a time, who then holds your details as a controller in their own right
  • Our hosting company, Krystal Hosting Ltd, which runs the site and its mailboxes, and our phone network, iD Mobile; both work strictly to our instructions
  • Anyone we’re legally obliged to disclose it to

Where it’s held

Requests are emailed to us and also kept in the website’s database as a backup. Both are stored on Krystal servers in London. Voicemail sits with iD Mobile, which states that some data may go abroad, including to its suppliers and fellow Currys Group businesses, under contractual safeguards. We never send your details abroad ourselves.

How long

Twelve months after the last contact about your request; then it’s erased or made anonymous. Anonymous totals with no names, such as monthly request numbers, can stay on file.

Do you have to provide it?

No, but without a contact method and a postcode there’s no way to arrange a quote.

Your rights

You’re entitled to a copy of your data, to have it corrected or erased, to limit its use, and in some situations to have it moved elsewhere. You can object to how it’s used, and we’ll stop unless there’s an overriding reason, which is very unlikely here. Email hello@granthamroofline.co.uk.

If you’re not happy

Contact hello@granthamroofline.co.uk and we’ll acknowledge it within 30 days, investigate and tell you what we found. The Information Commissioner’s Office also handles complaints: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Decisions by computer

None are made; people deal with every request.
